Cooperation among federal, state and local agencies leads to arrest for childcare benefits fraud in Miami.

Scarlette Jarquin, Allan S. Diaz and Ana Marcano were arrested and charged Feb. 26 with a scheme to defraud monies slated for at-risk children's daycare and preschool services intended to assist Miami-Dade's needy children. Between March 2011 and November 2013, the scheme led to the improper expenditure of more than $156,000 in school readiness funds with Jarquin and Diaz pocketing over $20,000 in cash.

Inspector generals' office at federal, state and local levels collaborated with the state attorney's office to uncover the fraud.

Complete details of the scheme are spelled out in a news release from the Miami-Dade County state attorney's office.
