New Health and Safety Inspections to Begin for Child Care Providers
The State Board of Education has approved Rule 6M-4.620, Health and Safety Checklists and Inspections.
This rule requires at least one Health and Safety inspection annually for all child care providers that offer the School Readiness program.
This means if you are not currently a licensed provider that receives annual inspections, you will now be required to have an annual inspection if you contract with the ELC to provide School Readiness services.
It is anticipated the rule will take effect on or around October 24, 2016 and Health and Safety inspections of School Readiness providers will begin mid-November 2016.
The Office of Early Learning has scheduled three training and guidance webinars for School Readiness providers and their staff to explain and discuss the new regulations. The dates and times for the webinars are listed below. The same information will be shared on each webinar, so please only register for one of the scheduled times.
Wednesday, October 19, 2016, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., or until business is concluded.
Thursday, October 27, 2016, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., or until business is concluded.
Thursday, October 27, 2016, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., or until business is concluded.
Please be advised this requirement only applies to School Readiness providers.
