Your child's first day of school can be a nervous experience for both you and your child. If possible, plan to stay with your child for the first five minutes of class. Provide the teacher with any emergency and medical contact information and other required forms, if applicable.
Write down the school's phone number, email address, street address and teacher's name and email address to keep on hand.
Read any materials sent home that tell you about the school or classroom, fees, school closures, class schedules and upcoming events. Read and sign any information that needs to be returned to school and put it in your child's backpack.
Learning about your child's teacher and the school is important on his first day in order to provide an easy transition into a new classroom environment. Exchange information with your child's teacher and school to reach a mutual agreement of trust and understanding.
