VPK Instructor Qualifications
The legislation that created the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program in 2002 specifies credentialing requirements for instructors in school-year and summer VPK classrooms. More recent legislation authorizes the Department of Education to approve educational credentials for instructors in school-year VPK programs that are equivalent to or greater than those originally specified. On June 19, 2018, the State Board of Education adopted additional educational credentials to meet requirements for school-year VPK instructors.
